Linda Bastone

Dr. Linda Bastone is Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs at Mercy University where she oversees faculty hiring, review, development, and recognition as well as the Centers for Teaching and Learning and Academic Excellence and Innovation. Dr. Bastone received undergraduate degrees in psychology and philosophy from Binghamton University and her PhD in Social and Personality Psychology from the CUNY Graduate Center. Her work as both a faculty member and administrator has focused primarily on understanding and addressing inequities in higher education. She has conducted research, published, and presented on ways to increase access, equity, and excellence in higher education and the efficacy of high impact practices implemented in classrooms, summer bridge programs, peer mentoring initiatives, and mentored research experiences. Prior to coming to Mercy, Dr. Bastone was Director of the School of Natural and Social Sciences at Purchase College, SUNY, where she led efforts to increase student success and reduce opportunity gaps between underserved and well-served students. Dr. Bastone has also served as Principal Investigator and Project Director on student training and mentoring grants funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), American Association of Colleges and Universities, and American Psychological Association. Currently, she serves on an NIH panel that reviews training grants designed to increase representation of individuals from groups historically underserved in biomedical sciences.
