Important Update:
The Department of Homeland Security published its final rule that ends “Duration of Status.” These changes will take effect on September 15 2026. These changes impact admission to the U.S., length of grace period, extensions of stay, changing majors and programs, and transfers.

International Student Services (ISS) is actively reviewing the new regulations and will provide a comprehensive update as soon as we have more guidance on how these new rules will be put into practice by the various government agencies. We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure that any guidance provided is accurate and complete.
Please be on the lookout for future webinars, town halls and other informational updates from ISS regarding this policy change. We will share more information as we receive it regarding implications and processes.

Our Mission
The mission of International Student Services is to assist members of the Mercy University international community by providing support and advising to ensure academic success while maintaining compliance with immigration regulations. The office works to provide a meaningful cross-cultural experience for both international students and domestic college community members. International Student Services also works in collaboration with other departments to create opportunities where international students can foster a sense of community amongst each other while fully integrating into the Mercy community.
International Student Advising
DSOs (Designated School Officials) are available for advising about all matters pertaining to maintaining status, work authorization, adjustment, etc. We have availability Monday through Friday at the Westchester campus and twice per week at the Manhattan campus. We also have availability via Zoom or phone Monday through Friday. Please email international@mercy.edu to schedule an appointment.
