Mercy University Hosts Interdisciplinary Forum on Child and Youth Mental Health
Mercy University's Interdisciplinary Health Education and Learning Program (IHELP) hosted The Interdisciplinary Forum on Child and Youth Mental Health on Monday, June 8, 2026, bringing together professionals, educators, and advocates for a critical conversation about supporting youth mental health in local communities.
The forum explored collaborative approaches to addressing the mental health needs of children and young people, emphasizing the importance of integrated care models.
IHELP, a fellowship program within the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, focuses on integrating behavioral health care into primary care settings. Made possible through a grant from the Health Resources and Service Administration, the program trains fellows in School Counseling, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Occupational Therapy.
Fellows gain hands-on knowledge, skills, and practice in settings that serve children, adolescents, and transitional-aged youth at risk for behavioral health disorders in high-need, high-demand areas, particularly in Bronx County, New York City.
