Mercy University is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Edwards, Ph.D., as Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement, effective today.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Mercy University community and contributing to an institution so deeply committed to student success,” said Dr. Edwards. “I look forward to partnering with students, faculty, staff and the community to further foster meaningful engagement and transformative learning experiences for Mercy's students.”
Dr. Edwards brings more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, with expertise in student engagement, leadership development, risk management, and inclusive campus environments. In her new role, she will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Student Life and Activities, Residential Life, and Student Support Programs within the Division of Student Engagement.
Prior to joining Mercy University, Dr. Edwards served as Assistant Vice President for Student Life and Involvement and as Director of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs at New Mexico State University, where she oversaw student organizations, leadership and traditions programming, orientation and family programs, expressive activity response, and large-scale event risk management. She previously held multiple leadership roles in the Department of Student Activities at Texas A&M University, supporting extended orientation, student government, leadership education, and co-curricular learning outcomes.
Dr. Edwards earned a Bachelor of Science in History, Technology, and Society from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a Master of Education in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University.
Dr. Edwards will work closely with the Enrollment Management and Student Engagement teams to advance student engagement and enhance the overall student experience at Mercy University.
