Join us as the Provost’s Office hosts the Women’s Empowerment Summit, a day designed to inspire meaningful conversation and action. In partnership with the United Nations Association of Westchester, Mercy Universe invites you to celebrate women’s leadership and lasting global impact.
Keynote Speaker: Luchina Fisher
Luchina Fisher is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, writer, speaker and educator on a mission to tell stories that move the world. Her short documentary THE DADS, executive produced by Dwyane Wade and streaming on Netflix, won the 2024 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Program and GLAAD's Special Recognition Award. Her feature directorial debut, MAMA GLORIA, about a Black trans elder activist, was nominated for a 2022 GLAAD Media Award and broadcast on PBS. She is also the director of the award-winning short documentary TEAM DREAM, executive produced by Queen Latifah, and the award-winning feature documentary LOCKED OUT, about the barriers to Black homeownership. Luchina began her career as a journalist, writing for People, The Oprah Magazine and ABC News. She will be inducted into the North Carolina Media and Journalism Hall of Fame later this year. A proud mom of three, Luchina is a sought-after speaker and educator, committed to guiding the next generation of storytellers. She is a visiting professor in film at Fairfield University and has taught documentary filmmaking at Yale.
