Learning with AI: The Good, the Bad and the Scary

April 30, 2025 1:30 – 2:30 PM

The Mercy University Libraries and Faculty Senate Library Committee present an open discussion on AI and higher education. Join us for a community discussion – a facilitator will be on hand to ask questions.

AI writes papers. Creates art. Codes programs.
How does this change what we teach? How does it affect how we learn? And what does it mean for Mercy?

No lectures. Just conversation.
Your experiences with AI matter, whether you've embraced these tools or approach them with caution. Your perspective adds value to our understanding.

Recommended Readings.
The two articles, "I used to Teach Students. No I Catch ChatGPT Cheats" and "AI in Higher Education: Students need playgrounds, not playpens," are not mandatory but highly recommended. Reviewing these materials in advance will provide helpful background information and context, allowing participants to be prepared for an engaging discussion.
