Getting Started with AI Community of Practice, Spring 2026 Meeting #2
Mercy Hall : Suite G5
Practicing Ethical AI in Teaching: Applying Design Principles for Developing AI-Integrated Assignments
Facilitators: Dr. Naushad Kollikkathara, SofB, and Dr. Lorraine Shikapwashya, SHNS
This interactive workshop supports faculty in designing AI-integrated assignments that emphasize ethical use, transparency, and student accountability. Participants will review a practical AI assignment design checklist that helps ensure alignment with learning objectives, encourages critical thinking beyond AI output, and promotes responsible AI use. Faculty will then share current assignments or assignment ideas and receive peer and facilitator feedback. We will also discuss strategies for documenting AI use in the learning process. Participants will leave with concrete tools, clearer guidelines, and actionable ideas for purposefully integrating AI into their courses.
