Rebecca Trenz, MA, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at Clarkson University. Dr. Trenz earned her BA and MA degree in Psychology at St. Bonaventure University, her PhD at Fordham University, and a Post Doctoral Certificate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Prior to her appointment at Clarkson, Dr. Trenz was the Program Director of MS Psychology at Mercy University and was one of the original Principal Investigators on the HRSA award that funds the MMH-RTC. Dr. Trenz has several areas of research interest that encompasses maternal mental health, substance use and risk behavior among vulnerable populations, and social media use and identity development. Dr. Trenz also has a passion for implementing high impact teaching practices into educational settings. She serves as a mentor to faculty interested in implementing the principles of metacognition and growth mindset into their classrooms in an effort to improve student outcomes. Dr. Trenz has mentored countless students on research, master theses, pathways to PhD programs, and career development. Her research currently in progress focuses on longitudinal studies of maternal mental health and alcohol use among mothers.
