Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan

I am a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan, where I contribute to the Zero to Thrive Programs and Services that are tailored for pregnancy through child age 6. As attending for the Infant Early Childhood Clinic (IECC) and Perinatal Psychiatry Clinic, I provide assessment, intervention, and care coordination services, and participate in training and supervision. My research and clinical interests are focused on the intergenerational transmission of violence and trauma, with particular interest in culturally diverse and Spanish-speaking populations. During the past few years, I participated in the Spanish adaptation and local implementation of the Mom Power Group Intervention (PIs: Rosenblum and Muzik). I also co-led the linguistic and cultural adaptation of the Pregnant Mom’s Empowerment Program to be used in Mexico, and lead pilot implementation and evaluation efforts for this virtual group intervention for pregnant women exposed to intimate partner violence. Throughout my career, I have developed expertise in perinatal mental health and trauma informed care, as well as engagement with community organizations and services to meet the unique needs of marginalized families.
