Associate professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Seton Hall University

Mara Podvey, PhD, OTR, PMH-C, FAOTA is an associate professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Seton Hall University. She earned her MS OT degree from Seton Hall University in 2000, and her PhD in OT from New York University in 2009. Mara's clinical and research areas of interest are pediatrics, family transitions, perinatal health, and women’s health. She is a co-founder and former facilitator of the AOTA Women’s Health Community of Practice, an active member of the AOTA Occupation-Based Pelvic Health Community of Practice, the Network by maternal Health OT, as well as a co-founder of a perinatal health project called Maternal Insights. Mara has presented regionally and nationally, as well as published papers, on occupational therapy’s role in women’s health. She is currently developing two research projects on women’s health – one on breastfeeding routines and the other on clinical reasoning in pelvic health. She has also contributed to a book on matrescence that will be published in early 2025.
