A Message from Dean Beard

Welcome to Mercy University’s School of Nursing. As the Inaugural Dean, I am excited to welcome you on your journey to and through the profession of nursing! Many students choose Mercy because our commitment to student success and academic excellence is exemplified throughout the institution. We take pride in our ability to provide an academic milieu where students can learn, grow, and advance in nursing. Our nationally recognized advising program and student success toolkit are designed to enhance student outcomes.

Whether you are beginning your academic journey, switching careers, or advancing in the nursing profession, the school of nursing offers three high-quality pre-licensure programs (traditional, accelerated weekday and weekend) and advanced degree programs (nursing education, nursing administration and family nurse practitioner) designed to help you attain your academic goals. The students at Mercy University have access to our state-of-the-art simulation center where they prepare to deliver exceptional nursing care, use innovative technology to sharpen their nursing skills, meditate in a spacious atrium or relish in the sun filled courtyard, study alongside the tranquil views of the Hudson River, learn in small classrooms that optimize understanding of critical concepts, and engage in amazing interprofessional education opportunities that support academic success.

Our nursing faculty are well positioned to create learning environments that support clinical judgment and academic excellence. As a result, many of our nursing students have graduated with distinction and are inducted into nursing’s honor society. I invite you to join a culturally diverse community of resolute students, elite faculty, stellar staff, and supportive administrators who share in the vision of graduating exceptional nurses who become extraordinary influencers of health care. Be a part of Mercy University’s School of Nursing where every student’s destiny is catalyzed by our purpose and mission; to transform the lives of students through high-impact education and graduate nurses who are well positioned to improve health care for the communities they serve. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Committed to your success,

Dr. Kenya V. Beard
