They may be virtual patients, but they are providing important real-world experiences for Mercy College’s nursing students. In an effort to teach students in health-related fields to minimize medical errors – one of the nation’s leading causes of death – Mercy students can poke and prod their way through enhanced views of the human body using simulators and other new technologies at the College’s new Health Professional Clinical Simulation and Learning Labs, situated on the Dobbs Ferry Campus. The interactive tools allow students to do what used to be done with mannequins but with the added benefit of having a lifelike virtual cadaver. Instructors can assess a student’s performance by using cameras positioned throughout the lab.
