Dear Mercy College Community,
I want to provide you with further details on the announcement I sent yesterday on the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation at Mercy College. I know you are concerned and have many questions.
As it relates to the case that I told you about yesterday, we are following direction from the Westchester County Department of Health (DOH). In their role as public health authorities, the DOH is leading this effort and is communicating with all the individuals known to have been in direct contact with the adjunct professor who tested positive. Mercy College has already communicated with these individuals. While we understand you want as much information as possible, we know that the adjunct professor was last on campus March 6 in Victory Hall and did not visit any other buildings.
In this rapidly changing situation, the College has implemented measures recommended by the CDC to limit large gatherings, referred to as “social distancing,” including moving academic instruction online and canceling events.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website provides helpful information on facts and guidance about exposure: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/share-facts.html.
Please continue to take care and utilize the resources available to you on our webpage. For questions or to provide information that might be useful to the College, please email healthalert@mercy.edu.
We will provide you with additional updates as necessary.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
Sincerely,
Tim Hall
President
