Middle States Steering Committee Update | January 27

Mercy College seal

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

We write today with an update on the College’s progress on our institutional reaccreditation process.  Mercy is currently in the self-study phase of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) review, which is being led by faculty and staff from across the College who have formed workgroups to address each of the MSCHE Standards and Requirements of Affiliation. The self-study will culminate in an evaluation visit in spring 2024 by a team from peer institutions who will make a recommendation to MSCHE about our continued accreditation.

Throughout the fall, the self-study workgroups interviewed members of the Mercy community, and collected and reviewed evidence to demonstrate support for the standards for accreditation. Over the course of the spring term, the workgroups will draft reports detailing the extent to which the College has maintained compliance with the accreditation standards, identifying areas of strength and innovation, and flagging areas for continued improvement. We expect to share a comprehensive draft of this self-study report with the community for review by August 2023. We are pleased to report that the College is on track to meet its deadlines.

This process is a college-wide collaborative effort, and we want to thank those of you who provided evidence or answered questions in your area of focus/expertise to the workgroups. We will continue to provide updates and post information to the Mercy MSCHE Webpage

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions.

Sincerely,

MSCHE Steering Committee Co-Chairs
