STEM Advisory Board
Advisory Board Mission Statement
The mission of the Mathematics, Computer Science, and Cybersecurity Advisory Board is to promote a partnership between industry and higher education that will foster the professional development of our students.
By assessing industry best practices and market needs in rapidly changing technology fields, the Advisory Board will offer guidance and support of our academic programs with the aim of aligning curricula to meet market demand in the region.
It is anticipated that the Board will promote internship and professional career opportunities for students, and to advance the professional image of the department, school, and University in the surrounding community.
Membership and Responsibilities
Members of the Advisory Board are nominated by members of the campus community. Members are expected to serve for renewable two-year terms, and to attend Board meetings twice every academic year, typically in May and in October. Business meetings will not exceed two hours in length.
Governance and Organization
The Chair of the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Cybersecurity will serve as the chair of the Advisory Board. The Dean of the School of Liberal Arts is expected to attend all meetings, with occasional participation by the President and Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Other individuals may be invited to attend selected meetings.
The administrative assistant in the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Cybersecurity will maintain records for the Advisory Board and will serve as the liaison with members.
