Mercy College Business Honors
Overview
The Mercy College Business Honors Program is a challenging 4-year academic program hosted on our Dobbs Ferry campus. Incoming freshmen with outstanding scholastic performance and a passion for business are given the opportunity to pursue a more challenging curriculum which often leads to greater prospective career outcomes. Graduates of the program have become leaders in the finance, analytics, marketing and accounting industries, just to name a few.
The Mercy Advantage
Business Honors students benefit from more intrusive advising from seasoned faculty with extensive corporate experience, many of whom possess more than 20 years of real-world business experience in their respective fields. The program prepares students for internships though interview preparation, one-on-one career coaching and networking connections. From freshman through senior year, Business Honors students build their resumes with real-world work experience, generally at Fortune 500 corporations, to ultimately prepare them for their dream job.
Application & Admission to Business Honors
Admission to Mercy College Business Honors is highly selective. An application and an interview with a Business Honors Director is required. In addition to the interview, incoming full-time matriculating freshmen are evaluated based upon their demonstrated academic merit (GPA 90/3.5), curriculum rigor, commitment to leadership and professional demeanor.
If you are interested in joining the Business Honors Program:
- Complete the Business Honors application

- Maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above
- Enroll in required Business Honors courses
- Maintain a Business Honors course GPA of 3.2 or above
- Earn a grade of C or above in all Business Honors courses
- Pursue a major within the School of Business
- Actively engage in Business Honors activities as required by the Director of the Business Honors Program and the Dean of the School of Business
- Participate in Freshman Experience Events
If adequate progress is not maintained, a student will be placed on probation for one semester with the Business Honors Program. While on probation students may be excluded from participating in Business Honors activities and/or classes. If satisfactory progress is not resumed in the following semester, the student may be dismissed from the Business Honors Program thereafter and lose any applicable scholarships.
An Honors contract is a means by which students can earn three Business Honors credits in lieu of taking a Business Honors course. This pertains to students who cannot enroll in the required Business Honors courses due to extenuating circumstances such as Division II Athletic Team conflicts. It entails the production of an additional business-related project approved by the Dean (e.g. research paper, presentation, proposal etc.) that deepens the student’s knowledge of course material and promotes the student's skills in self-directed learning. Students report directly to their professors with the approval and oversight of the Business Honors Program Director. A student may not complete more than two courses of the required 10 Honors courses in this manner.
