  Clubs

 
 

In addition to sponsoring a wide variety of extracurricular activities, the Office of Student Activities also oversees a number of student clubs and organizations. These groups give Mercy students the opportunity to explore their interests further. The following are brief descriptions of clubs on the campus today.

Mercy College Models (MCM)

The primary purpose of this club is to train students of Mercy College in the field of fashion and modeling and to create a place where the students can improve posture, hygiene, and overall confidence. Students will receive the opportunity to display the talents they were taught during semester fashion shows.

The Green Club

The purpose of the Green Club is to foster environmental awareness at Mercy College and in the local community. Club members will interact with college and community members to enhance their knowledge on the difficulties that global warming and other detrimental environmental factors incur on the well-beings of humans.

Creative Minds Poetry Club

The purpose of the club is to create an environment that is conducive for students to stimulate, educate, and integrate with diverse cultures of the Mercy College community, while maintaining high academic standards. The club will give support to fellow creative students on and off Mercy Campus.

Video Game Club

The Mercy College Video Game Club consists of students whom have a genuine love for video games. The club will discuss the latest video games and learn how to develop a video game from scratch. The video game club will hold tournaments often and have weekly club meetings when the latest video games will be played and studied. Officers for the video game club will be elected based on their knowledge of video games and video game systems. In an effort to raise money for the school and the club, the Mercy College Video Game Club will hold monthly tournaments.

Dance off Society Showstoppers

The purpose of this club is to afford the talented students of this honorable institution the opportunity to present original work for annual exhibitions for permanent display in allotted areas of campuses. Club members will display techniques during scheduled performances.

The Chess Club

The purpose of this club is to educate students of Mercy College on the game of chess and to create a place where the students of the college can interact with one another. This club will sponsor an annual event that will allow club members to compete against one another.

The Arts and Vision Society

The overall purpose of the society is to provide avenues of artistic expression for students who are willing to share their visions of humanity, nature, science, mathematics, technology, and pure imagination in various artistic forms. This society will exhibit throughout the college a diversity of art forms created by students in various majors.

Campus Christian Ministry

The purpose of this club is to promote spiritual growth and to enhance the social and interpersonal well-being of the members through the opportunities provided for voluntary Bible study.

Latin American Student Association (LASA)

The Latin American Student Association's mission is to endorse Hispanic and Latino culture on campus while encouraging intellectual discussion, high academic standards, diverse membership, and community support.

Reporter's Impact

The Impact is a monthly newspaper produced, written, and edited by the students of college. It supplies a voice for students, faculty, and administration on issues involving the Mercy College community. Students have opportunities to serve as reporters, editors, or photographers to either prepare for a career in media or to have an enjoyable campus experience. Students can become staff members of the Impact by registering for the newspaper. Take a practicum class under Media Studies or volunteer your submissions. Feel a sense of accomplishment. Enhance your writing. Make an Impact!

Speech-Language and Hearing Club

The Speech- Language-Hearing Club (also the Mercy chapter of the national student "NSSLHA") serves three functions-educational, social and fundraising- in the area communication disorders.

Student Council Association Club

The Student Council Association is dedicated to social and organizational activities of the student body. The purpose of the organization is to represent students' views within the College and sometimes on local and national issues. It is also responsible for providing a variety of services to students. Students can get involved in its management, through numerous and varied committees, councils and general meetings, or become one of its elected officers.

Veterinary Technology Club

The purpose of this club is to become involved in professional and community activities and socially interact with students having common career goals in the fields of medicine and veterinary technology. The second purpose of this club is to gain information about classes and discuss the latest news in the fields of veterinary technology, science, and medicine. There will be club meeting events, such as behind -the –scenes tours of zoological parks and veterinary hospitals.

Italian Club

The purpose of this club is to promote the Italian culture and language.

Accounting Society

The purpose of the Accounting Society is to expose students to the accounting profession and help students prepare for employment in the business world. There will be guest lecturers, alumni, and faculty to provide insight into the profession and its workplace.

International Business Club

The purpose of this club is to be an outlet for students to discuss their experiences abroad and a forum for international managers to impart wisdom. The second purpose of this club is to be an opportunity to make a stronger networking community within the business department.

Stitchers

The purpose of this club is to expose members to the craft of knitting and make items to be donated to charity.

Black Student Union (BSU)

The mission of the Black Student Union is to improve the black experience at Mercy College by providing uplifting and intriguing events. The BSU will exchange knowledge and culture to the entire student body, and challenge each student to improve themselves through professional, social, and personal achievement, thereby positively impacting the community.

Caribbean Student Association (CSA)

The Caribbean student association provides Caribbean students and the Mercy College community with knowledge of the Caribbean environment. This club will expose students to many varieties of food, music, history, and language that can be found and enjoyed in the Caribbean. The club will use Caribbean lifestyle to create and promote events for entertainment and charity.

Corporate and Homeland Security Club

The purpose of this club is to promote the interaction and fraternity of students in the Corporate and Homeland Security major

"No Mercy:" Step Team

The "No Mercy" Step Team provides another venue of expression for the students of Mercy College. The Step Team provides entertainment, activities, and fun for the students, faculty, and community.

Intensified Image Dance Team

Intensified Image is a group of dedicated students whose purpose is to present a positive Mercy College image by promoting school spirit through dance.

To express one's self through the art of dance. The Dance Team is a student choreographed group. These students enjoy showing off their creative energy to the Mercy College community.

Exchange Club

Exchange club is a group of men and women working to support nationwide child abuse prevention and help countless children lead normal happy lives.

Honors Club

The purpose of the Honors Club is to bring together highly motivated students and excellent faculty dedicated to stimulating self confidence, intellectual growth and achievement of personal goals. The Honors club will provide a vibrant and supportive community within a diverse student population for the flourishing of individual and cultural expression.
